My name is Daun Yorke and I am a global educator.  Currently, I hold the post of  IBDP Coordinator, Visual Arts and Theory Of Knowledge Teacher at Canadian International School of Hong Kong. This is my ninth year teaching in IB World schools. I am a Visual Arts Visiting Examiner and an IB Workshop Leader.  I have led workshops in Australia, China, the Philippines and Singapore. Master's Thesis


Masters Thesis (1999) University Of Britiish Columbia.   

This Masters Thesis was a labour of love.  For two and a half years, I researched the Dakelh' ne First Nations in Northern British Columbia and the Anlo Ewe in Southern  Ghana.  Alongside the subject of my thesis (Luther Tettevi) and his extended family, I travelled and unravelled a lost past and compared and contrasted two rich cultures.

One of the most important aspects of the IB experience for me has been being an IB Parent. Watching my daughter go through the programme brought me to a whole new level of understanding.

Each year at Yew Chung International School, IGCSE and IB students created wearable art made of recycled materials. A public fashion show was held at Brilliance Mall in Shanghai for the community to enjoy. In 2011, the work was featured in IB Magazine as part of a celebration of environmentally conscientious schools.

Article - Thailand CAS Experience


Each year, students from YCIS Shanghai attend a two-week trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand.  Community is formed within the group and important Creativity, Action and Service work is done.  I led a similar trip Experience Week trip at CDNIS in November, 2011.  This November, I co-led a trip to Fiji where forty-eight students took part in house building.  The work was transformational.  Blog: http://sites.cdnis.edu.hk/clubsactivities/ewfiji/2012/11/proud-of-our-building-team-koroipita-fiji/

Graduation Show - THE IB Diploma Programme Art show is always a real celebration at Yew Chung International School.  Students work is displayed at a local Shanghai art gallery. A large number of students have gone on to study art at the post secondary level.

The International Photography Club at Centennial Secondary School in Coquitlam, B.C., Canada initiated several photo-exchange projects with global impact, including projects with schools in Cuba, El Salvador and this project with Ghana.
